The Launch of Our New Website - Blog
18 Jun 2025 - Queen Freya Adeladia Ambrosia Dragon
Greetings. It is I, Queen Freya Adeladia Ambrosia Dragon, First of My Name, and I am pleased to introduce the re-design and re-launch of our website after many months of development.
It is a work of aesthetic and structural beauty that was done with a combination of HTML, CSS, PHP, and Jekyll. It was made to look lovely on widescreen and square desktop monitors, tablets, and cell phones, and it is able to seamlessly adapt to a spectrum of screen resolutions. If you’ll take notice of the background, at the time of writing, it is a digital painting of a forest in various shades of green, contrasting with the purples of the rest of the website. This painting was done by me, and I enjoy the character it lends to the design. We want this website to be better than the blandness and sparsity of the current, terrible design trends.
We’re especially proud of this blog, which features a theme that seamlessly blends into the rest of the website. Previous renditions of the blog/mailing list and the website as a whole had certain issues with maintainability, and with this version, we hope for its core to remain online in the long term. A alteration that we’re quite excited about is the ability to change author names across the entire blog by using user IDs instead of the standard, plaintext names that Jekyll expects; all author names are pulled from a centralized file based on said IDs, leaving them fully editable in the future.
As for the RSS feeds, there is a main Atom feed, and there are additional Atom feeds per every tag that is used. It is fully possible to subscribe only to specific subjects of interest. If you desire an email newsletter, you will have to enter the feed links into an existing RSS-to-email service.
One other feature of the website is the theming of Nginx’s auto-index pages, which allows us to simply upload files as a method of publishing. All directories and HTML blocks are wrapped in the website’s styling when loaded, making it easier for us to put our artwork online.
You may also have noticed that our website is now primarily available at ‘otherforest.net’. We intend to release our works under this organizational name, which offers a minor degree of separation from how we refer to our affiliation in general life.
Of course, there is much more that has been done over the last half-year, but these are the main highlights. Please enjoy the website.
Regards,
Queen Freya Adeladia Ambrosia Dragon, First of Her Name
